Dear Claremont Families,
We are wrapping up April with purpose, grit, and excellence! State testing is nearly complete! We’re proud of our students’ hard work and focus—3rd grade assessments begin next week.
We’re collecting teacher appreciation donations during arrival and dismissal, this Tuesday–Thursday. This is a great way for students to contribute!
It's time to enroll for 2025-2026, and we're turning this task on the parents and guardians into something fun for the kids! Each day, Mrs. Goodwin, our registrar, will track each and every completed enrollment —and every submission pushes your child’s class, wing, and grade level closer to winning the competitions!
Not only does this generate serious hype, but it also helps us plan ahead to provide the very best for our students, especially to prepare for the appropriate student to teacher ratio. Please help us share the exciting challenge details which are found below!
As we close out the month, let’s stay focused on our goals. Whether it’s pushing through the final tests, showing kindness to classmates, or meeting high expectations—we are determined to finish strong with purpose.
Thank you for your continued support and for being an essential part of our Claremont community.
With Claremont Pride,
Ms. Fay

What is reading comprehension?
It is the ability to understand, interpret, and analyze written text. It involves recognizing words, grasping their meanings, making connections between ideas, and drawing conclusions. Strong reading comprehension skills enable readers to extract information, infer deeper meanings and critically evaluate what they read.
Below are the recommended fluency benchmarks for each grade level:
📖 1st Grade – 39+ words per minute
📖 2nd Grade – 94+ words per minute
📖 3rd Grade – 114+ words per minute
📖 4th & 5th Grade – 125+ words per minute
