FROM THE PRINCIPAL'S OFFICE

Claremont Family,

Monday, February 3, is School Counselor’s Day, and we want to recognize the amazing work of Ms. Brown! She takes initiative, steps in to support our students, and helps ensure they are ready for a productive day of learning. Ms. Brown leads weekly counseling lessons using our Second Step curriculum, reinforcing the social-emotional skills our students need to thrive. We recognize that for students to reach their full potential in language arts, math, and all core subjects, their foundational needs must first be met—and Ms. Brown plays a vital role in helping make that happen.

This Wednesday marks the 100th day of school! Students are invited to dress up as if they are 100 years old, pin 100 items to a shirt, or find a fun and creative way to represent 100 days of learning. This day is a great reminder of the perseverance, growth, and effort our students have shown this year. Grit, responsibility, and a love for learning—these are the values that drive our success!

Although January has come to an end, we continue to recognize and appreciate our Board of Education for their dedication to our students, staff, and community. Their support strengthens our mission and commitment to excellence, collaboration, and student success. Please take a moment to watch our Board of Education Appreciation Video here: view.

At Claremont, we believe in fostering a growth mindset, building strong character, and working together to create the best opportunities for our students. Thank you for being a part of this journey with us!

Let’s have a wonderful week of learning, celebration, and gratitude!

With gratefulness,

Ms. Fay

Modeling Resilience: Teaching Kids the Power of Mistakes

Our kiddos are always watching. We know this, but sometimes we forget in moments of big frustrations such as when making a mistake or meeting resistance to completing a task. When we make mistakes, it’s important to show that recovering from them is a part of learning. First, take a deep breath if you feel frustrated or irritated; this helps calm your mind. Next, explain to your children that everyone makes mistakes, and it’s okay! You can say something like, "I made a mistake, but now I will try again." Encourage them to think of a time they made a mistake and how they learned from it. To practice being resilient, you can do a fun activity where each person shares a mistake they made and what they learned from it. This helps everyone understand that mistakes can lead to growth and that trying again after a setback is what truly matters!

Heart Month: Let's keep our hearts healthy!

Why is Heart Health Important?

Our heart is one of the hardest-working muscles in our body, beating over 100,000 times a day to pump blood throughout (WOW!). Just like we take care of other parts of our body, we should also take care of our hearts—now and in the future!

Ways to Keep Our Hearts Healthy:

Eat a Balanced Diet – Try to include more fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and lean proteins in your meals. Limit sugary snacks and drinks, and be mindful of portion sizes.

Be Active – Exercise helps improve heart health and can be fun! Whether it's playing outside, dancing, or walking, aim for at least 30 minutes of physical activity most days of the week.

Stay Hydrated – Drinking water throughout the day helps keep the body functioning properly, including the heart!

Get Enough Sleep – Sleep is essential for a healthy heart. Aim for 9-11 hours of sleep per night for children and 7-9 hours for adults.

Manage Stress – Learning to relax and manage stress can also protect your heart. Encourage deep breathing, mindfulness, or taking breaks during the day to stay calm.
